Chauvet Cave 2, a replica of the famous Chauvet Cave is just an hour from the hotel and welcomes you into a unique, out-of-this-world experience where you can learn all about the Aurignacian cave dwellers. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the cave invites you on a journey to discover the origins of art amid an immersion in prehistory. You can admire the fresco of the lions and its 92 animals in movement by the light of a flickering torch. In the site’s 20 hectare park, other discoveries await you.
Just a few kilometres away lies the Aven d’Orgnac, a “Grand Site de France”. Step into this cave with its gigantic shapes and the beauty of its underground landscapes where fine crystallisations and rich concretions go hand in hand. There’s also the Cité de la Préhistoire, where you can discover the daily lives of our ancestors from the Middle Palaeolithic through to the First Iron Age, either self-guided or on a guided tour.
These caves are located in the Gorges de l’Ardèche, an exceptional natural site stretching from Vallon-Pont-d’Arc in Saint-Martin-d’Ardèche, where 11 special viewing platforms provide absolutely stunning vistas. The gateway to the gorges, the famed natural archway of the Pont d’Arc is the perfect starting point for a trip down the River Ardèche in a canoe or kayak.
Closer to our hotel, the valley and Gorges de Labeaume boast beautiful sandy beaches and rocks for the whole family to enjoy swimming and sunbathing, as well as marked trails for great hikes.
